Episode Five
| As
Takemoto returns to his hometown to visit his mother, he reflects on their
history - losing his father during primary school, Takemoto's goal was
to become happy with his mother, however, this goal was shattered when
she remarried Kazuo. As he reaches his home,
he finds out that his mother is sick from over-working at the hospital.
Before reaching home, Takemoto runs into Kazuo who takes Takemoto to the
batting centre where he tells Takemoto that no one can be the replacement
for someone else and that Takemoto is important to both him and his mother.
As Takemoto comes to terms with his family situation, he returns to Tokyo
feeling happy that things are resolved. |

| As Shuuji finds out that he has won the lottery given to him from Morita for Christmas, he finds himself having to take the Hachikuro crew out to a hotsprings ryokan. After Mayama joins them half way through the trip (as he was sitting a work examination), Shuuji and Hagu are amazed at Morita's ability to draw in the traditional Japanese style using soy-sauce, to replace a drawing he ripped by accident. While everyone goes to the hotsprings, Mayama checks Shuuji's mobile history to see whether any calls had been given to, or received from Rika, only to be busted by Morita. As Mayama and Shuuji go into the onsen, Mayama finds it difficult to approach Shuuji about Rika. |
